Commercial Roofing in Tampa Bay, FL
Commercial Roofing in Tampa and the Bay Area
R&D Construction & Roofing provides commercial roofing in Tampa and across the Bay Area from our office in Pinellas Park. We are a family-owned, licensed and insured commercial roofing contractor and general contractor serving property managers, facility managers, building owners and general contractors in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater and throughout Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco counties.
Whether you have a recurring leak over a tenant space or a full re-roof in next year’s budget, our approach is simple: inspect carefully, explain the options in plain terms, build to the Florida Building Code, and keep your building working while we are on the roof.

Why property owners in Tampa work with us
Two licenses, one contract. R&D is a Florida Certified Roofing Contractor (CCC1331844) and a Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC1532474). When a roofing job uncovers deck damage, interior water damage, or work on rooftop equipment curbs, or when the roof is part of a larger renovation, we can handle both sides under one agreement. You deal with one team and one schedule instead of coordinating separate contractors.
Manufacturer-certified installation. We are certified installers for Duro-Last, GAF, Owens Corning, Tremco and Versico. In 2024 we received a Duro-Last quality distinction award, which we appreciate and treat as a standard to keep earning.
Active in the industry. We are members of the NRCA, BOMA Miami-Dade, BOMA Fort Lauderdale & Palm Beaches, the Roofing Contractors Association of South Florida, ICSC, the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association and the BBB. Our licenses and memberships are listed on our credentials page.
Experience with occupied properties. A lot of our work is on restaurants, offices, medical buildings and apartment communities that stay open. We plan access, staging and work hours with your team before the first crew arrives.
What to consider for a commercial roof in Tampa Bay
Summer storms and heavy rain. The Tampa Bay area sees frequent afternoon thunderstorms through the summer, often with intense rain and strong gusts. Low-slope roofs depend on clear drains, sound flashings and good seams to handle that volume of water. Many of the leaks we are called for start at a clogged drain, a failed pitch pocket or a loose edge detail.
Wind and hail. Tropical storms, hurricanes and severe thunderstorms can lift roof edges, damage membranes and dent metal. Hail is less common than in some parts of the country but does happen here. After a significant storm, a prompt inspection helps document any damage and stop water before it spreads into insulation and interiors.
Florida Building Code requirements. Commercial roofs in Florida are built to the Florida Building Code, which sets requirements for wind uplift resistance, attachment and approved products. Roofing products generally need Florida Product Approval or local approval for the intended use. We specify compliant systems, pull permits through the local building department and schedule the required inspections.

Frequently asked questions
Do you serve St. Petersburg and Clearwater as well as Tampa?
Yes. Our Tampa Bay office is in Pinellas Park, and we work throughout Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco counties.
How do we know whether to repair, coat or replace?
We start with an inspection, look at the condition of the membrane, flashings and drainage, and check for trapped moisture. Then we give you a straightforward recommendation. A repair or a silicone coating is sometimes the right call; other times replacement is the better long-term value.
Can you help after a storm?
Yes. We can inspect the roof, document what we find, and make temporary repairs to limit further water damage, then plan permanent repairs or replacement as needed.
Can one contractor handle the roof and the interior work?
Because we hold both a roofing license and a general contractor license, we can handle related work such as deck repairs, interior repairs, impact windows and doors, or a tenant build-out under the same contract.
