R&D Construction & Roofing provides commercial roofing in Miami for property managers, facility managers, owners and general contractors who need a roof done right and documented properly. We are a family-owned, licensed and insured commercial roofing contractor based in Kendall, and we work across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties.
Whether it is a single leak or a full re-roof, our approach is the same: inspect carefully, explain the options plainly, build to code, and keep the building running while we work.
We handle most commercial roof types found in South Florida, along with the construction work that often comes up alongside a roofing project.
We hold both licenses. R&D is a Florida Certified Roofing Contractor (CCC1331844) and a Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC1532474). That means the roof and the related construction work, such as structural repairs, interior damage, rooftop equipment curbs or a tenant improvement below, can be handled under one contract with one point of contact. Fewer handoffs usually means fewer gaps in scope and fewer scheduling surprises.
We are certified with the manufacturers we install. Our crews are certified installers for Duro-Last, GAF, Owens Corning, Tremco and Versico. In 2024 we were recognized with a Duro-Last quality distinction award, which we are grateful for and take as a standard to keep meeting.
We are part of the local industry. We are members of BOMA Miami-Dade, BOMA Fort Lauderdale & Palm Beaches, the NRCA, the Roofing Contractors Association of South Florida, ICSC, the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association and the BBB. You can review our licenses and memberships on our credentials page.
High-Velocity Hurricane Zone requirements. Miami-Dade and Broward counties fall within the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) under the Florida Building Code. Roofing in the HVHZ follows stricter requirements for attachment, testing and inspection than much of the state. Roofing products used here generally need a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) or the appropriate approval for HVHZ use, and the installation has to follow that approval. We specify approved systems, pull the permits and schedule the required inspections as part of the job.
Hurricane season planning. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30. If a re-roof or major repair is on your capital plan, it helps to start the conversation early so material ordering, permitting and installation are not squeezed into the busiest weeks. Before and after storms, we can inspect roofs and make temporary repairs to limit further water damage.
Salt air and UV. Coastal exposure is hard on metal components, fasteners, flashings and rooftop equipment supports. Constant sun and heat also age membranes and coatings. We take this into account when recommending materials, fasteners and maintenance intervals, especially for properties close to Biscayne Bay or the coast.

Yes. We pull the roofing permit, use products approved for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, and coordinate the required inspections with the building department. If the project also involves construction work, we handle that permitting as well.
It depends on the condition of the existing roof, how much moisture is trapped in it, and how long you plan to own the building. We start with an inspection and give you an honest recommendation. Sometimes a repair or a silicone coating makes sense; sometimes replacement is the better long-term value.
In most cases, yes. We plan the work in phases, schedule noisier tasks around business hours where possible, and keep walkways and entrances safe. We will go over the plan with you before we start.
Because we are also a licensed general contractor, we can take care of related work such as deck repairs, interior repairs, impact windows and doors, or a tenant build-out, without bringing in a separate company.
